This course is aimed anyone involved in sport or physical activity that may need to administer emergency first aid within the Herefordshire and Worcestershire regions. This course will take place on Sunday 29th September 2024, from 10am-16.30pm. Deadline for bookings is Thursday 19th September 2024 @ 16:00pm. This will take place at the University of Worcester St Johns Campus, Henwick Grove, WR2 6AJ. This course is for people aged 16+ (age at the time of the course).

Course details:

Minimum age Requirement: 16+
Please note, learners who are aged between 16-17 years will require a chaperone, who is not attending the course. Chaperones will not receive a certificate of attendance, please see UK Coaching chaperone guidelines here as a guideline of the chaperone expectations.

Standard ticket: £95.00 -If you do not meet the subsidised criteria below

Subsidised Ticket: £30.00 Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire are partially subsidising the cost of this course as an investment in people within the region who are either working in the sporting industry or want to enter the sporting industry and require this essential qualification to do so.

Eligibility for the subsidised ticket:
Participants are asked to declare that they are either employed, voluntary, or trainee role that they consider positively impacts individuals in the community (within Herefordshire and Worcestershire), to benefit their health and wellbeing.

To qualify for the subsidy you must be based within Herefordshire and Worcestershire and working to:

> Improve physical activity and tackling inequalities

> Improve outcomes within communities with high levels of deprivation

> Supporting individuals with physical or mental health challenges

There are a some general questions to answer at the Eventbrite registration check out to assess this funding eligibility.

Places are limited so if you can commit to attending, book early to secure your place.

Course information:

Learn emergency first aid skills from instructor Frank Dwane, with a First Aid Award (FAA) accredited course covering:

• Responsibilities and reporting
• Resuscitation and AED awareness
• Burns
• Assessment of the situation
• Anatomy
• Choking
• Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
• Minor injuries
• Epilepsy
• Basic hygiene in First Aid
• Bleeding control
• Shock

Certification:
A three year qualification will be issued to those who meet the criteria of the practical assessment that will be carried out by the instructor.
The HSE strongly recommends that all students undergo an annual refresher programme of three hours.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • If you are registered with a governing body, or require this for your workplace, please check to make sure this course meets its requirements before booking.
  • If you are coaching, or planning to coach, in a specific sport, please check with the national governing bodies (NGBs) that this course meets their requirements. A list of NGB's contact information can be found here.
  • Bookings are made via the Eventbrite link provided at the bottom of the page.

We please ask that when booking you supply an e-mail address for the individual that will be attending the course, so that we can contact them directly with course information. Each candidate's name and organisation will be shared with the course tutor for course registration purposes.

Cancellation:

The deadline for cancellations is 7 working days prior to a course. If notification is received after this period, we will not be able to issue a refund or transfer the booking to another course. We will only issue refunds or transfers in circumstances that are in our control or whereby the fault lies with us e.g. we cancel a course. Payment for the course will be requested at check out on Eventbrite and must be received prior to the date of the course. To pay via PayPal does not require you to have a Paypal account.

If you do need to cancel please let us know as soon as you are able, so that we can aim to re-allocate the place.
