Domestic Abuse Awareness
This training is for people who live or work in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland.
In the UK 1 in 3 women, 1 in 6 men, and 1 in 5 children will experience domestic abuse at some point in their lifetime. This means that you almost certainly know someone who is, or has been, affected by abuse.
Our training will give you the knowledge and skills to:
- Recognise the different forms of abuse;
- Establish who domestic abuse can affect, and the reasons why people may abuse others;
- Recognise the barriers that people face in talking about abuse, and the reasons why someone may stay in an abusive situation;
- Understand the impact that abuse and trauma has on people;
- Have 'difficult conversations' by asking people about abuse and signposting them to the relevant support.
Living Without Abuse (LWA) are an established charity who have been providing domestic and sexual abuse services since 1977. We regularly deliver training to professionals and organisations across the UK. Our training is delivered by a skilled trainer who has direct knowledge and experience of supporting individuals who have been affected by domestic abuse.
