About Targeted Interventions Manager

Leicester City in the Community has a fantastic opportunity for a Targeted Interventions Mentor to join our dynamic team on a 12-month fixed term basis.

About The Role

The fundamental purpose of the role is to support the delivery, development and monitoring of Leicester City in the Community's Specialist Sport Provider programme commissioned by the Violence Reduction Network (VRN).

We are looking for candidates with a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable young people who will look to find creative ways to engage participants.

The successful candidates will deliver on the VRN Specialist Sport Provider commissioned service; the VRN is a wide alliance of groups, communities and organisations from across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) who believe that violence is preventable and share the common goal of reducing and preventing serious violence through understanding and tackling its root causes.

The VRN Specialist Sport Service aims to contribute to the prevention and reduction of serious violence by providing expert advice and facilitating swift and concrete opportunities for young people supported by VRN interventions to engage in sport & physical activity. The project will:

-Working directly with young people (aged 11-25 years old) to understand their needs and interests, and to build their confidence and capability to enable them to access opportunities and activities.

-Supporting young people to participate in sport and physical activity opportunities and activities and to sustain engagement.

The successful candidate for this role will have excellent communication and organisation skills, an ability to work on their own initiative, and be able to form strong, sustainable working relationships across all levels of the organisation.

Who We're Looking For

Essential requirements for the role:

-Experience working with young people within a community setting.

-Outstanding at engaging young people and has the ability to gain their trust whilst building and establishing relationships over time.

-Knowledge of the known risk and protective factors relating to violence affecting young people.

-Knowledge of the local sport and physical activity landscape and key providers.

Desirable skills / qualifications include:

-JNC or Learning Mentor qualification.

-Educated to degree level in a relevant subject area.

-Certifications in Safeguarding, Emergency First Aid, Mental Health First Aid.

-Youth Work Level 2

Contract Type – 12-month Fixed Term

Hours Per Week –22.5 hours, 3 days per week. (You may be required to work outside of normal office hours, at evenings and weekends).

Location – LCitC is based at King Power Stadium, Leicester. The delivery of sessions with take place at partner schools/Local Community centres etc and some aspects of the role will require homeworking, therefore you will need the ability to travel across multiple sites across Leicester and Charnwood.
