About Head of Education Improvement & Innovation

t the Youth Sport Trust (YST) we are focused on creating, developing and delivering programmes and initiatives that improve wellbeing and equip young people with vital skills for life. We are committed to empowering educators with comprehensive support and professional development tailored to their physical education, school sport and physical activity needs.

As our Head of Education Improvement and Innovation, you will lead work to position young people's health and wellbeing at the very heart of school improvement. We will look to you to unleash the power of physical education, (PE) sport, physical activity and play to create healthy learners and active citizens and young people prepared for their future.

In this critical role, you will take responsibility for enhancing educational experiences through innovation. You will lead our engage with strategic leaders in the education sector to build our flagship schools' network as well as enhance our membership programme to encourage retention and further growth. You will raise awareness of the connection between student health and wellbeing and whole school improvement by creating evidence-based stories. You will equip senior leaders to understand and maximise the power of PE, school sport, physical activity, and play to improve school culture, climate and young people's outcomes. You will also oversee our PE innovation and development work and bring together networks of subject specialists and PE leaders in support of our mission and work. You will nurture partnerships and identify relationships to help grow credibility and influence across the education sector too.

To succeed, you must have senior leadership experience within an education sector organisation, school, or a Multi Academy Trust coupled with an understanding of implementing pastoral support within this environment. Used to implementing improvement strategies and accountability measures, you will possess a sound working knowledge of the role of PE, sport, physical activity, and play in education too. Good at driving educational initiatives that address key educational challenges, you will have excellent knowledge of the current education landscape and emerging educational innovation.
