So on Saturday I played in the DBE Maiden Singles competition held at Gedling Indoor Bowls Club Nottingham. We arrived at the Bowls Club at 8-45 am hoping that this time I would go one better than last year when I lost in the final by 1 shot. When all the players had arrived we drew numbers to which group we would be in and who we would be playing,, I drew number 1 so I was in group 1 long with Craig, Sue and Lisa. The game would be 1 hour 15 minutes long or first to 15 shots, my first game was against Craig the new commonwealth games pairs bronze medal winner I have played with and against Craig before but the first time at singles. And as I thought I would have to play really well to win the game and we both had some great bowling and it was so close but with the score at 10 - 10 I managed to get my last bowl of the end to push the jack back to my other 3 woods so scoring a maximum 4 shots which gave me the opportunity of scoring the winning shot on the next end which I did. It felt awesome to win the first game 15 - 10 it gave me such a good feeling and confidence to take on the next game.
Game 2 was against Sue a new player to meet for the 1st time Sue is a Visually impaired player but as I quickly found out she is a very good bowler indeed and again it would be a very competitive game after a few ends it was very tight only leading by the odd shot but again I managed to score a 4 which opened a gap which I managed to keep until the end so it was 2 played 2 wins.
