Meet Kelly

Pregnancy didn't stop Kelly from being active

Kelly from Charnwood

Kelly's interest in physical activity became apparent when she moved to Loughborough, and joined a local running club in order to meet new people. She joined their C25K group and within 6 months had lost 5 and a half stone and completed the London marathon!

Since becoming a mum, Kelly has had to change the way she stays active. Unfortunately, at around 4 months pregnant, Kelly had to stop running due to severe pelvic pain. In order to stay active, she began practicing yoga, which was a great way to keep her mind and body feeling good during pregnancy. She later joined a pregnancy exercise class, which became the highlight of her week.

Towards the end of her pregnancy, Kelly joined an Aquanatal class, and loved the feeling of weightlessness in the water. Kelly believes that staying active throughout her pregnancy helped her recover quickly after giving birth. Physical activity helped improve her mental health and combat postnatal depressiom. After pregnancy, Kelly started going on short, gentle walks that gradually got longer. She loves walking with her pushcair, breathing in the fresh air and moving her body.

Kelly is on a mission to inspire other mums to become physically active. She has trained as local 'walk leader', and hosts a buggy walk once a month for Active Mums Club, in order to walk and talk with other local mums.

Kelly is now once again an avid runner, and has rejoined her local running club. As well as this, Kelly enjoys buggy running with her son. They went on their first buggy run when he was only 6 months old!
