The Lord-Lieutenant's Award scheme seeks to identify, celebrate and reward the very best examples of achievement by young people in Leicester and Leicestershire. There are five categories, two of which are relevant to sport:
Young Most Improved Sports Person of the Year
To be given to an individual who has:
• made significant progress in the field of sport over the past 12 months
• demonstrated promise, dedication and determination
• exceeded expectations in their sporting performance or made a big difference to a team
Young Volunteer of the Year
To be given to an individual who has:
• enhanced their local community or environment
• cared for a neighbour or relative in need
• helped to run a community or sports based club or society
Others include:
- Young Braveheart of the Year
- Young Artist of the Year
- Young writer of the Year
Nominations must be submitted by 31st January 2016.
