Great Britain Blind Footballer and GO GOLD ambassador Dylan Malpas passed on his wisdom to youngsters this week, as he visited St. Boltoph's CE Primary School.
Malpas, who is a goalkeeper, made the transition from football to futsal and has represented England Blind, Partial and U-21 Development squads.
A silver medalist at the 2015 World Championships in Korea, the shot stopper spoke for 30 minutes in front of a packed hall, before running a PE lesson. Bringing in medals, an England shirt and cap with him, the session was highly interactive and gave children an insight into the world of blind and partially sighted football.
In addition to the talk, Malpas oversaw activities which enabled the audience to become the players, putting on team masks and experiencing what playing blind football is like. The talented keeper plays as the one sighted member of his teams.
Applications for the the current GO GOLD scheme are currently open until midnight on Friday 28th October. For full information on the current athletes and how you can apply for funding, visit http://www.lrsport.org/gogold
