Give Fishing a Go at the World Lure Angling Championships

The Angling Trust's Get Fishing team will be at the Lure Angling World Championships, Rutland Water on 13th & 14th October giving you and all the family the chance to discover what fishing is all about.

Come and have a FREE coaching session, learn how to fish or brush up on your skills. With angling activities on offer designed to encourage adults, children and young people to discover to try fishing, you'll find out how to use tackle and bait to catch fish and return them safely.

You'll be given the chance to have a go at fly fishing, to master the art of a fly-cast as well as the challenge of trying to catch a trout.

The World Lure Angling Championships are happening on the day too – come and experience a world class fishing competition in full-swing. Home nation Lure Team England are competing against teams from Russia, Italy, America, Poland, South Africa and reigning World Champions Romania – an exciting day is on the cards.

You'll be able to to try your hand at "lure fishing" like the International World Championship Teams and see how artificial fish can be used to tempt pike, perch and zander. Because everything is free to try, and you don't need to bring any equipment it's an easy day out for families to learn to fish together.

The opening ceremony will be held at Greetham Valley, Rutland, on Thursday 11th October, with the two-day competition taking place over the weekend of 13th and 14th October.
