This International Women's Day is a very special one across LLR, as three of our This Girl Can ambassadors share their personal stories and exercise journey's with the BBC and Leicester Mercury to inspire others!
The day is a focal point for women's rights across the world and is also a great way to celebrate all the amazing things that we as women can do. The United Nations began to start celebrating the day back in 1977 and we haven't looked back since.
The movement has adopted #ChooseToChallenge as part of this year's campaign to keep everyone alert and active in forging gender equality throughout the world. Here at LRS we also thought it is a great way to inspire new exercise journey's through challenging yourself to try something you may not have necessarily done otherwise.
Our very own This Girl Can ambassador, Natasha Mina is guest editor of the Mercury especially for IWD 2021. Within her takeover she talks about how physical activity has positively impacted her life and shares her mission to get women and girls active through sport and exercise. You can read more on her segment, by following the 'more information' link.
As well as this, two other inspirational LLR women have been sharing their stories about being women who CAN do anything they put their minds too, and will be featured alongside Natasha on BBC East Midlands Today - so make sure you sit down to watch the segment later!
The videos for each of our ambassadors can be found on our social media platforms. Search for us on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram: @LR_Sport, Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport
