The Big Week and Big Weekend invites the general public to try archery at one of Archery GB's open day events. Delivered in conjunction with The Archery Shop, it will see over 75 events at Archery GB clubs and archery providers across the country, opening their doors to anyone wanting to give the fantastic sport of archery a go! With an estimated 4,000 members of the public set to take part, and over 30,000 arrows to be shot, this is an exciting UK wide event.
Visitors of all abilities and ages will be able to have a go at archery, delivered by our amazing team of qualified archery coaches and volunteers, ahead of the Tokyo Games. There are no limits as to who can do archery – it's for everybody regardless of physical ability. It also has numerous health and wellbeing benefits and is well documented as a confidence-boosting sport. Just give it a go!
All equipment will be provided so participants just need to bring themselves and plenty of enthusiasm. Please note, some events may require prior booking, and some may charge a nominal fee for participation.
If you can't find a Big Week or Weekend event, don't worry! Archery events are delivered throughout the year, such as Have-a-Go's, taster sessions and beginner's courses, across the country – use the 'Find an Event' page to find one near you.
Is there an age limit?
Archery can be enjoyed by all ages but some beginners' courses set an age limit of around 8. At Big Week and Big Weekend events clubs will often have soft archery kits or extra volunteers on hand to support younger children.
