Volunteering

Volunteering in physical activity and sport has so many great benefits. Here you'll find useful links to local opportunities.

The Value of Volunteers

Volunteering in sport and physical activity is an excellent way to get active and have fun, and at the same time it stands as a means to give back to your community. No longer is it just about being a coach or an official - it can involve helping out at an event, organising a lunchtime running group, 5-a-side football league or even rounders in the park! Or perhaps use your IT, marketing, administration, fundraising and management skills to support clubs or just get involved to help and have fun.

Hidden value of sport volunteers:

Volunteering boosts happiness & wellbeing

  • Compared to those who have never volunteered in sport, those who have volunteered have 10% higher self-esteem, emotional wellbeing and resilience

Volunteering in sport and physical activity gets the nation active

  • One volunteer creates the capacity for 8.5 members

Volunteering boosts communities

  • It has been found that if you volunteer in sport, you are 4 x more likely to trust people in your community and 3 x more likely to feel the importance of community cohesion

Favourite Quote/Motto - "You can be anything you want to be, just turn yourself into anything you think that you could ever be." Freddy Mercury

Favourite Sporting Moment Watching the 1997 British and Irish Lions win the test series against South Africa who were the current world champions at the time. It was great to sit with my old man watching the home nations come together to achieve something amazing.
