Physical Activity and Wellbeing Residents’ Survey 2024
How do you feel about being active? We want to hear from YOU and other residents of LLR!

Active Together and our local authority, physical activity, sport and health partners would like to understand how you feel about being active,
your current habits and your future intentions.This will help to identify what support and opportunities are needed in our communities to help you
and other residents lead healthy active lives.
Please share among relevant club members, colleagues, and contacts. Note that respondents must be over 18 years of age and live in Leicestershire,
Leicester and Rutland. The closing date to complete the survey is midnight on
Sunday 14th
July.

Parkinson's UK Physical Activity Grants
The Parkinson's UK Physical Activity Grants Programme supports
activity
providers, communities, networks, organisations and others to develop opportunities for people with Parkinson's to become and stay active.
Projects must demonstrate the following desired impact:
•

People with Parkinson's become and stay active, and/or significantly increase their levels of activity if they are already active.
|
•
|
More physical activity provision for everyone with Parkinson's across the UK.
|
•
|
Improved social wellbeing in people with Parkinson's as a result of attending the project.
|
Applications can be made for a minimum of
£500 up to a maximum of £3,000. This is a rolling programme and applications will be accepted until all of the funding has been allocated.
|

|
Co-op Local Community Fund opens for 2024
The Co-op Local Community Fund supports projects in communities that help to create Sustainable Future for
People and the Planet (the themes for this year). Not-for-profit groups that are registered or based in the UK with their own bank account
can apply and successful groups will receive a
minimum of £1,000 to support their projects. Funding is determined by Co-op community members who vote on the project they wish to support
in their local community.
The deadline for applications is
Sunday 7th
July.

B&Q Foundation Grants
The B&Q Foundation provides grants for a wide range of charities who are looking for funding to improve or develop spaces that benefit their
local communities. The Foundation focuses on funding charities that support people who are most in need because of
homelessness, financial hardship, sickness, disability, or other disadvantage. Grants of
up to £10,000 are available for building or indoor projects, and
up to £5,000 for garden projects.
The next round of funding opens on 22nd July
and will close for applications on
Friday 9th Aug.

Peter Harrison Foundation - Opportunities Through Sport & Physical Activity
The Peter Harrison Foundation is an independent grant making trust that supports registered charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs) in
the UK. The Opportunities through Sport and Physical Activity fund distributes small grants of
up to £5,000 and major grants
up to £30,000. Applications for capital, revenue or project funding will be considered. The Trustees will prioritise applications for
physical activity initiatives that target people who
live in the top 10% of areas of deprivation and
remove barriers to participation for disabled or disadvantaged people.
Trustees meet quarterly to consider grant applications and the next deadline for applications is
Monday 1st
July.

Travers Foundation - Helping young people achieve their potential
The Travers Foundation is a volunteer run Charity that provides financial support to
local 13 to 30 year-olds to help them realise their dreams in
sport, music, and the arts. They help by nurturing the talent of local teams, groups and individuals in
Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire.
They can support with:

Coaching Support: providing funding for the direct cost of coaching and professional support for groups or individuals.
|
•
|
Competition Support: providing funding for competition costs, including travel expenses, accommodation expenses and competition entry
fees for sporting teams or individuals.
|
There are no set deadlines for this fund.
|

Climate change and the environment
Do you want to do your bit for the environment but don't know where to start? Buddle has you covered. Their new guidance on
Climate change and the environment outlines the importance of tackling climate change and walks organisations through the benefits of
having an environmental policy, how to develop one, and next steps for taking immediate and lasting action.

LGBTQ+ Inclusivity
June is Pride Month 2024, a celebration of LGBTQ+ people and culture. Buddle has created
guidance on LGBTQ+ Inclusivity to ensure that activities are always inclusive, supportive and attractive to participants, volunteers and
staff from the LGBTQ+ community. Creating welcoming, safe, and inclusive environments that encourage and support everyone to be their true,
authentic selves is important. The guidance provides information and top tips for embedding inclusivity, including:

Safeguarding Adults in Sport & Physical Activity
The Ann Craft Trust recently launched their
Safeguarding Adults Roadmap, a new online tool for embedding safeguarding best practice in sport and physical activity organisations. The
roadmap is a six-stage process designed to help organisations understand what they need to do to comply with legal obligations, guide them through
the steps to implement good practice, signpost to extra support, and give organisations confidence that they are safeguarding their adults
effectively.

CIMSPA Digital Marketing Hub - Are you making the most of it?
The
Digital Marketing Hub offers community groups, clubs and charities, as well as volunteers, self-employed, sole traders, small and
medium-sized businesses the opportunity to develop their digital marketing skills for free. The programme supports people and organisations to
boost participation through key themes in digital marketing, including audience development, online visibility, and content production.
The Digital Marketing Hub is available to all people and organisations
delivering sport and physical activity to help you promote your club and communicate with your members.

New research has revealed that grassroots sport clubs are highly valued and important to local communities across the United Kingdom.

Table tennis has been found to improve the psychological, social and physical wellbeing of prisoners in a study carried out by a leading
academic on behalf of Table Tennis England.

The Local Government Association have published a new report detailing the significant positive contributions of community sport and physical
